HISTORICAL ROMANCE QUESTION FOR #ROMANCEREADERS

As an author, I'm best known for my historicals. Southern Legacy, my Civil War saga, is my bestselling series. My question for you—

Do you like the new trend of inclusion history in historical romance where it rewrites the actual history?

YES              NO             No Opinion        Don't Care just enjoy a good story

I feel it's an important distinction. I absolutely adore Julia Quinn's Bridgeton series—the books and the series. The books are one way and the Netflix series are inclusive. Personally, I love the Netflix series because it depicts life the way it should have been. Wouldn't it have been nice if life had been like that?

But, in reality, it wasn't.

There again, some may feel, that it is not that much of a reach. Some romance writers don't let history get in a way of a good romance anyway. I, on the other hand, have always written as close to history as my research extends my knowledge. I believe Southern Legacy is a prime example of what I'm talking about. The sweeping romance is set during the Civil War. The books don't skirt over slavery. Matter of fact, I believe it depicts the horror and consequences of the horrid practice. But, I'm curious, what do you romance readers want?

That's an important question for me— what will sell in the future for historical romance writers? I really would like your opinion. What would you want to read? What would you like me to write?

(Sidenote—This isn't a political question. My intention is only to find out what historical readers want to read only.)
