As America approaches its 250th anniversary, I find myself reflecting not only on the history we celebrate—but the people who lived it. History is often remembered through wars, speeches, and great political moments. Yet behind every turning point stood ordinary men and women whose lives were forever changed by the times they endured. Young soldiers marched into uncertainty. Families waited by candlelight for letters that might never come. Women held homes and hearts together while the world around them trembled beneath the weight of change.
