My Dog's Named Colbie!

Colbie
This is my dog Colbie. She's part Australian Shepard, the other...it's up for grabs. She's a shelter dog from Tennessee. Really, she's my daughter's, but my daughter at college. I haven't talked much about my doggies for a while. Not like I would have liked. For a year now, I went into a little shell (not my bubble world that I like so much).

I promised myself to let everything go and be myself again. I love talking about my books, other authors' books, romance, my doggies, causes, my family...maybe I just love talking. I have several blogs, but this one was my first. I feel it's my most personal. If anyone interested, you can glimpse what I'm like.

What are the rules to writing a blog? Are authors only suppose to talk of books? Reviews? I don't think so.

I believe authors should write what they feel. Writing is an extension in some or way  of myself. I don't know exactly what being a Romance Author says about me, but is a part of me. Not all...but a part. My latest release, Broken Legacy, is a perfect example of pouring my heart into a project. Broken Legacy, I would have to admit, is my most emotional book. I wrote it during an emotional time and I believe the writing reflects that emotion. There are a few things you should know about my writing.

First—I never have written light fluffy romance. I can't. I've tried, but each time the story turns by itself and I find myself deep in a suspenseful situation. I say this to explain to anyone that is looking for a light read...I wouldn't think my books qualify.

Second—My stories take a life of their own. I may come up with a plotline, but by story's end, it may look like nothing I imagine at the beginning. I also find my best stories are the ones I write and come back to after a certain period of time.

Third—I believe my stories to be original. I know that in the Romance World there is a formula to follow. Sometimes I have...other times not so much.

Fourth—I love to write. It's a part of me.

But there is more to me. Little facts that most everyone knows about me.

I'm Southern and proud of being it. No matter how long I live in the Northeast, I will always hold to my Southern roots.

I work in the health care field when I'm not writing. I love my animals. My husband never owned a pet before he met me. I believe in giving back. I believe in helping others. My life revolved around my children and now they are older, hubbie and I are adjusting to an empty nest. I do admit I miss my kids. I am many things but I'm not a business person.

So in the spirit of moving onward, I wanted to mention what hubbie and did the other day. We went to the Home Show in Boston. We had a great time and learned alot. I learned I would love to try to power my house by solar energy. We are getting a consult, but I doubt we'll be able to put the panels on the house. It was interesting to see the satellite picture of our house. It had a clear view of our property including our hot tub on our deck...  I'm afraid it won't be a go. At the home show, they talked like all we would need to do is trim our tree. I don't think so. There are so many and tall, but we'll see.

Another booth we found quite interesting was this one. TEAM 21! I felt like I was on the dog whisperer. Amazing what Dave could with a simple command. Exactly what my doggie, Colbie, needs. She doesn't listen as well as she should at times. I fear I'm a tad easy on my doggies. Colbie is an extremely smart dog. She does need direction. I'm so excited to have found someone that is going to come out and give us some pointers. I will let you know how it goes.

I'm also excited to say I will be in attendance at the 2nd Annual Rock-N-Dock on May 4-5. I love watching dog shows and events, but I never have seen one in person. It should be a great time and Team 21, Dave and Yeager, his dog, raise awareness and money for Down Syndrome. I think that's awesome. I invite anyone who will be in the Boston area the first weekend in May to join me.

So I'm back doing what I love to do....
